When I Rise...

In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.
Most mornings when I wake up, the first thing I do is pour a cup of coffee. I’ve loved the smell of coffee since I was a little girl, long before I ever liked the taste. Even then, the aroma felt warm, comforting… almost like a memory waiting to happen.
Now, as a woman who loves both the smell and the taste, I still start the same way: a warm mug in my hands, a glass of water nearby, and my Bible open in front of me.
And as I sit, peace begins to settle gently over me. Stillness follows. My heart remembers: He is my portion.
These quiet beginnings shape my entire day. The soft light. The Scripture in front of me. The whisper of His presence. Sometimes I light a candle if I’m working from home. It's not out of ritual, but because I love what light does to a room, how it slows me down just enough to feel Him near.
I love starting my day with Jesus. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be long. But it is real, and it is mine.
And it is enough for me.
🕊️ Journal Prompts for Your Own Morning Stillness
Take a quiet moment and let these questions guide your heart:
What do my mornings currently feel like: rushed, peaceful, scattered, expectant?
Where in my home do I feel the most at ease? How can I meet the Lord there more often?
What small rhythms help me sense His nearness: light, Scripture, warmth, silence?
What do I need to release this morning that I wasn’t meant to carry today?
What is one simple way I can create space to hear Him tomorrow morning?
Let this be your gentle invitation into stillness… not to perform, but to be. Not to strive, but to receive. Not to impress Him — but to sit with Him.
